BESAKIH TEMPLE

Located on the western slopes of Mount Agung and referred to as the largest Hindutemple in Bali. Pura Besakih located in the area, offers you beautiful scenery andcharming buildings that surround the temple this temple complex.

The name of Besakih was derived from the word "Basuki", taken from the word"Wasuki" which means salvation in the language of Sanskrit. Meanwhile, inSamudramanthana mythology, the name "Besuki" actually refers to the "DragonBesukian", who inhabit Mount Agung, Bali's major volcano

This large temple complex has been considered a sacred place since ancient times.Based on the records of ancient inscriptions in 1007 AD. It is known that since the 15th century, regarded as the central Besakih Hindu temple in Bali.

Besakih Temple, also known as Penataran General is the main place of worship of Hindus in Bali. Is a complex consisting of 22 temples in the mountains parallel.

The complex expresses the vital trust of the people of Bali, known as Tri Hita Kirana,which means that life on earth must be lived and kept in balance and harmony between man and God, man and his neighbor, as well as human and natural environment.

During the full moon, the Balinese people and pilgrims flocked to the temple. During theceremony piodalan, temples will be decorated beautifully. Odalan celebrated each dayto 210.
